Veterinary Care (Coming Soon)
A Free Clinic for Animals Who Need It Most
At New Mexico Vets for Pets, we know that veterinary care is one of the biggest unmet needs in unhoused and low-income communities. That’s why our next major step is opening a free spay/neuter and triage veterinary clinic at our campus on 500 Wisconsin Street NE—a facility dedicated to animals whose owners cannot afford private care and shelters that need more capacity.
This clinic is not an idea. It’s the next phase of work we’re already doing, every week, through our field operations in partnership with Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS).
Right now, our team provides on-site triage, wound cleaning, parasite control, and emergency support for animals living in tents, encampments, or crisis housing. We see the suffering up close. We see how a treatable infection, untreated, can turn fatal. We see the heartbreak in owners who love their pets deeply but have nowhere to turn for help.
This clinic will be their answer.
🏥 What We Plan to Offer
Once operational, the clinic will provide:
Spay and neuter services
Basic triage and wound care
Vaccinations,
Deworming,
Microchipping
Preventative treatment for fleas, ticks, and parasites
End-of-life support for animals in pain
Emergency Boarding (Coming in January)
Veterinary care will be delivered by licensed professionals, with support from veterans in our animal care training cohort. It will operate as a community-access site, serving both emergency needs and long-term animal wellness.
🐾 Why It’s Urgent
Every week in the field with ACS, we meet animals suffering from conditions that are entirely treatable—if only there were access. We also work closely with Albuquerque Animal Welfare, where delayed medical care can mean delayed adoption or even unnecessary euthanasia.
This clinic is not a nice-to-have. It’s a crucial missing link in the city’s animal care network—and we’re building it.
💙 Help Us Open the Doors
The build-out is underway, but we need your help to finish strong. From medical equipment and clean room systems to vaccines and supplies, every donation brings us closer to launch.
